Do you collect scraps/die cuts?

These pages are a result of my own collecting activities, and they have been published on a non-commercial basis as free reference material available to scrap collectors everywhere.

I myself have collected scraps for many years. In the beginning, I only collected scraps drawn by the Norwegian artist Harald Damsleth. In doing so, I often came accross a lot of other interesting items. Most of these I have traded off, or have sold on QXL, and this led to me being asked questions by other collectors about things I knew very little about, such as publishers, print volumes, artist names etc.

It soon became clear that many collectors were, in fact, searching for a 'world catalog' of scraps, and this inspired me to start my own directory – online. My catalog will for certain never be complete, but I hope that it nevertheless will be of interest and prove useful to my fellow collectors.

Naturally, not all the scraps I have indexed belong to me. Other collectors have been extremely helpful and have sent me many scans of sheets that they saw were missing in my listings. My sincere thanks to those of you who have assisted me. Without your help these catalog pages would have been nearly as 'complete' as they are.

Collecting scraps is a world-wide hobby, and the term for "Scraps" – naturally – varies from country to country. For instance, in my home country of Norway they are called "Glansbilder". In Germany they are called "Oblaten" or "Glanzbilder", in England "Scraps", in the US "Die cut", in France "Chromos", in Spain "Cromos", in Denmark "Glansbilleder" and in Sweden "Bokmärken". Useful to know when surfing international sites.

Again, many thanks to those of you whom have contributed with scans, facts and comments. Without your assistance these pages would not have come to be.
